Retractable garage

Brief explanation

A retractable garage is a parking facility for one or more vehicles that lowers the original above-ground parking space to a lower level and creates a closure at the top.

Detailed information

At its core, the actual basic construction consists of a hydraulic lift table with at least two horizontal and parallel levels between which the vehicle is positioned. The floor forms the base for the vehicle. When lowered, the roof also serves as an above-ground surface and thus also as a closure of the actual garage at the top.

Depending on the design, it is possible to create an underground connection between the garage and the house so that you can enter or leave the underground parking space directly from there.

Variants

The retractable garage can be realized in different versions. For example, a lift table with several levels also offers parking spaces for several vehicles.

The construction can also serve another purpose. As an access road to an underground parking garage, it is less a parking space than an elevator and retractable access road to the actual parking spaces.
There are also differences in the designs in terms of size and features.

Possible applications

A retractable garage has numerous applications in both the private and commercial sectors. Theft protection, for example, is an important criterion, because a vehicle that is neither visible nor accessible will not become the target of an attempted theft in the first place. The same applies, of course, to any damage caused by environmental influences or vandalism.

The space saving is an enormous advantage, especially in places where parking spaces are scarce, for example in city centers. For operators of multi-storey and underground parking lots, a retractable garage offers additional opportunities to expand their range.

The actual parking space can also be used for other purposes above ground when sunken. Purely aesthetic reasons can also be an argument in favor of a retractable garage. A property that is to be visually highlighted, for example for reasons of monument protection, can benefit greatly from this.

How does the perfect hiding place for your car work?

Basically, the way it works is relatively simple. The vehicle is driven onto a hydraulic lifting table and lowered into the ground. After the car is lowered, a roof construction on the flat level serves to cover the vehicle. The above-ground area can then be used for other purposes.

The different design options of the retractable garage extend its functionality. From the underground garage, for example, direct access to the house can be provided via a shaft. This means that the occupants can enter the house through the cellar, for example.

There is also the option of parking several vehicles underground. Furthermore, the underground garage in larger residential units can serve as access to the underground parking garage. There are different versions of this type of garage, from luxury models to parking lift systems. Which model you choose depends not only on your wishes, but also on safety regulations, structural requirements and, above all, your budget.

Why an underground garage?

There are many reasons to opt for a retractable garage. The most important advantages include above all

  • Security
  • Space gain
  • Aesthetics
  • no structural Requirements for an above-ground garage
  • Increase in value

There is an increasing lack of space, especially in large cities. Every square meter is valuable and almost too good for a parked car. However, an underground garage can also be used to protect expensive new cars from thieves or the elements. In addition, an above-ground garage is sometimes not an option for aesthetic or structural reasons, which is why retractable garages are often the only solution. Last but not least, it often happens that there is simply not enough space for two cars. These are all reasons why retractable garages from DE-PARK are becoming increasingly popular.

Areas of application for retractable garages

This type of garage is an elegant solution for private homes as well as car parks and car dealerships. In the private sector, they are often used where expensive cars need to be protected and maintained. This garage protects the valuable item and significantly reduces the risk of theft.

The aim of parking garages and car dealerships is to save as much space as possible. This is where retractable garages come in handy. With the underground garage, it is even possible to park several cars in a minimum of space. If the size of the plot is very limited, this type of garage is the ideal solution.

In the private sector, such a garage is often also used for aesthetic reasons if a car or an external garage does not fit in visually with the overall appearance of the property or obscures important parts. When it comes to the roof of the sunken garage, this can be designed as desired in the sunken state. You have the choice between grid stones, natural stone slabs, a lawn or a simple checker plate.

Requirements for a retractable garage

An underground garage is associated with longer construction times and a relatively higher budget. It is not possible to give a general answer as to how long the construction will take and how high the costs will ultimately be. Many factors such as the model, the equipment, the size and the structural requirements play an important role. The structural requirements include the appropriate size of the pit, the drainage system, a water channel, a power connection, etc.

Construction normally takes longer and, roughly speaking, the costs are higher than for a normal prefabricated garage, but the retractable garage from DE-PARK offers some convincing advantages that speak in favor of a purchase.
